The Elephants of the Apocalypse

I wrote a few weeks ago about how much I am enjoying the new church here in DC. Today took the cake.

They did the last of the “Elephant in the Church” series and finished, appropriately enough with “The End: The Apocalyptic Elephant” and they included the one of the most amusing videos I’ve seen in a long time, and definitely the most entertaining one I’ve seen in church.

Check it out here, the entirety of the final apocalyptic battle between the angelic and demonic elephants. Little did we know that the final blow would come at the throw of a halo.

less serious, but seriously…

One of the other things that comes through my Google Reader each day is a few funny things. One of my favorites is Crummy Church Signs. This one came through today:

CSSigns
This is what they have to say about it, which is completely true:

Nice to see this Reformed church has relaxed their denomination’s theology a little bit. And by “relaxed”, I of course mean “completely disregarded”.

Seriously, I hate stupid church signs.

Transformers’ MBTI Personality Types

So, this week I’m at a conference that deals with development in our positions and team dynamics based on personality types as well as giftings. As a new friend of mine and I were talking about our same personality type (ENTP) it moved into childhood memories. We then decided to figure out where our favorite Transformers fit on the Meyers-Briggs Personality Indicator chart.

As we considered the outworking of their personalities some interesting patterns and categorizations aroze.

Starting with the obvious, the leader - Optimus Prime himself; a pretty clear ISFJ:
Known as a Nurturer - ISFJs are sympathetic, loyal, considerate and conscientious. They will go to any amount of trouble, when it makes sense to them, to help those in need. ISFJs operate most comfortably in situations where the rules are well defined and where traditions are to be upheld. They focus on providing practical help and services for others and for the organizations they serve. They are often self-effacing in getting the job done, and they are willing to make necessary sacrifices, especially for their families. They are at their best quietly providing assistance and making sure things are in proper order.

they’re coming

Carrie’s sisters and Beth’s boyfriend Matt are coming out tonight. (Hi, Matt - one of my few faithful readers.)

It should be fun having them out. I’m not sure what we’re going to do for fun. Grove City isn’t exactly the hub of all culture and excitement. Bowling? Movie? More movies?

I really am not sure.

I must say, though, Carrie has Incubus on downstairs and I’m enjoying it and the reminders of Wildwood that it gives me.
